The first week
The coating is still curing. Skip soap washes, and if a bird drops on it, rinse it off gently with plain water.
Hand wash every couple of weeks
A pH-neutral car soap and two buckets is all it takes. Dirt left sitting can still spot, even on a coating.
Skip the brush car wash
Those spinning brushes put swirls right back into your paint. Hand wash or touchless only.
Dry with clean microfiber
Or a blower. Old bath towels and chamois drag grit across the paint.
No wax needed
Wax sits on top and hides the slickness you paid for. A coating-safe spray topper now and then is plenty.
Rinse lovebugs soon
They come off easily on a coating, but don’t let them bake on for weeks during lovebug season.

How long does ceramic coating last?
Shine & Protect is rated 5 to 7 years and Showroom Shine 7 to 10 years with proper care. We show you exactly how to wash it at pickup, so you get every bit of that.
How long will my car be at the shop?
Showroom Shine is ready in 2 to 3 days, because the polishing takes time to do right. We cover a one-way Uber or Lyft, so you’re never stuck waiting.
Can you coat a brand-new car?
Yes, and it’s the best time to do it. New cars often leave the lot with swirls from dealer prep. At drop-off we look at the paint with you under lights and tell you honestly whether it needs correction.
Do I still need to wash it?
Yes, but it gets a lot easier. Dirt left sitting can still spot, so a gentle hand wash every couple of weeks keeps it looking its best.
Should I get ceramic coating or PPF?
Coating protects against chemical damage like bird droppings, bug acid, and water spots, and makes washing easy. PPF stops rock chips and other physical damage. Drive the highway a lot? Do both: film where the chips happen, and coating over everything.
Does ceramic coating include an interior detail?
No. Our coating packages are all about the exterior, glass, and wheels. If the inside needs attention too, ask about adding a detail.
Is ceramic coating better than wax or sealant?
For lasting protection, yes. Wax lasts a few weeks and a sealant a few months. Our coatings are rated 5 to 10 years, and they bond to the paint instead of sitting on top of it.
Can I take a coated car through an automatic car wash?
A touchless wash is fine once in a while. Skip the ones with spinning brushes, because they put swirls back into the paint.
Is ceramic coating worth it on an older car?
